Ramblers Reunion

Fancy a Walk …

Well, in the days when we had a lady Prime Minister and mobile phones hadn’t been invented and e-mails were big hunky blokes in Budgie Smugglers, Blackburn Northern had a fourth activity.

After tennis, squash and that other sport where men dressed in white and hit a ball with a stick, and the WAGs made their teas, no! not hockey, they hadn’t arrived yet,  we had a group of ramblers.

We drew from all sections and occasionally we would muster in excess of thirty bodies and the bodies were all shapes and sizes in all kinds of attire. However, we had a laugh, so much so that at the Centenary Cocktail Party various tales of the walks were recited and someone even suggested they’d like to do it again.

Well, we are going to have a reunion walk and would like to extend an invitation to anyone who can both walk and breathe, preferably at the same time.

On Sunday, 19th May we will meet on this car park at 9.15 for a 9.30 start. We’ll drive for about an hour to Arnside when we will attempt either a 6.5 mile with a short climb or an 8 mile flat walk, we will choose which by concensus. You will require stout footwear and a packed lunch which will be taken on the foreshore at Silverdale. Dogs, children etc are all welcome and of course it will be weather permitting.

Let us know if you need transport, we may be able to help.
