Ian Broughton Memorial Trophy 2025

A Memorable Day at the 4th Annual Ian Broughton Memorial Trophy

We enjoyed another fantastic tournament for the 4th Annual Ian Broughton Memorial Trophy, despite a wet and windy start to the day.

The unpredictable weather didn’t dampen spirits - 16 of the 24 players bravely chose to play outside in the rain for one of the eight rounds, while the remaining 8 players took full advantage of the shelter provided by the Dome. The event was made even more special as we also celebrated 20 years since the official opening of the Dome and the Club’s facilities - a great milestone for everyone involved.

A huge thank you goes to the tennis committee and all the volunteers who helped make the day run smoothly and provided a delicious spread that was thoroughly enjoyed.

After a closely contested day, we had a tie for first place, with the trophy jointly awarded to Adam Seed - who had come second for three consecutive years - and Lesley Greenwood.

Last year’s winner, Andy White, shared second place with Jeremy Thompson and Matt Dunne.

It was a pleasure to welcome Gill Broughton, who presented the trophies once again. Also in attendance were Club Chairman Aileen Hext, Tennis Chairman Dave Holtby, and Club President Gordon Driver, who kindly travelled from Birmingham to be part of the occasion.

Past winners of the trophy include Greg Simms, Michelle Watts, and Andy White.
